“Power Players” is a colloquialism used on A.G.I. by Green Gobbler in reference to large financial institutions, hedge funds and market makers who influence and control much of what happens in financial markets. They leverage their resources and influence to develop keen insight into investment assets and use trading algorithms to counter the order flow of retail traders. In the stock market, especially the small-cap/penny sector, hedge funds and other institutions often maintain high share counts to enhance their influence on price and direction. Understanding the motives, behaviors and habits of power players is essential to effective technical analysis, especially in markets and assets with the highest levels of institutional involvement.
